This picture is very special to me because it has two of my most favorite boys in it. My son is not real fond of hats but when he saw that his daddy had one similar he opted to wear his for.just.a.second. Love them to pieces.

Limited Time Offer sessions

For a limited time I will be offering $25 sessions that include (3)8x10s, (2)5x7s, (4)3.5x5 and (16) 2x2.5(wallets). You must book a session with me from now until the end of this month in order to get a session and prints at this rate. The sessions can take place between May and July at the location of your choice. There will be limited slots available also so get yours in as soon as you can to ensure availability. Edit Comparisons

I thought that this would help some of those that are always asking and emailing me how do I edit my pictures.

I use a very basic editing technique and I do them all with no batching or actions(as I haven't figured out how to do my own actions for editing; I do however have an action made up for my resizing, sharpening and watermark). I do like several actions that are out from several of my photog friends. I am still trying to discover my "style" but I am more drawn to the clean and simple look. Every now and then I want something more dramatic with more color, etc but my basic, go-to edits are pictured below.

So below I have made some comparisons showing my Clean and Simple edits.

The first picture is straight out of my Canon 60D shot in RAW with no adjustments in DPP or Lightroom, just converted to jpeg and sent over to PS to edit.
The second picture is my Clean and Simple edit. Basically, I do a soft light layer(reduced opacity according to picture), burn and sponge at a very low opacity. Also, I bump up Curves if it needs it. That's it!
The third picture is my Clean and Simple edit done the same way as the first but with a little more contrast, burning, dodging and sponging.

This picture is extra special to me. I feel like it catches so much of her personality. She is so playful, and definitely marches to the beat of her own drum. It makes me laugh just thinking about it, but her favorite game is peek-a-boo! Children are so funny. They think that if they can't see you, then you can't see them. :-)

My heathens...Carlie, Cheyanne, and Caleb. Do you know how hard it is to get all 3 of them still enough to take a picture? Not an easy task.

{Snapshots Contest | Update}

You have until tomorrow night at midnight EST to get your submissions in if you want to participate in the Snapshots Contest. You must live in Turner, Tift, Crisp, Wilcox, Ben Hill, Worth or Cook Counties. You can send in up to 5 photos but only the photo with the most likes will be used in determining the winner.

For example: If you have sent in 2 pictures and one picture has 10 likes and the other picture has 5; then you have 10 likes. I am not adding the picture's likes together.

I will then load all of the pictures and descriptions to my blog and facebook and then on February 26th the voting(likes) will start. Make sure to tell your friends and family to "Like" Meg Caton Photography on Facebook and then go to your picture(s) and "like" them too. Comments are welcome but are not going to be counted. Please no cheating or making fake accounts to win. If you do this you will be disqualified.

Me and my son hours after he was born. Words cannot describe how I was feeling on this day! Such a memorable and loud experience for me and everyone that was there the night of his birth!!!

{Your Snapshots Photo Contest}

I've had so much fun participating in some of my friends' contests that I thought I would do one also. Anyone in my vicinity(Turner, Tift, Crisp, Wilcox, Ben Hill, Cook and Worth County) can submit pictures to be "liked" but anyone can participate in liking your pictures.

Here's what you need to do.

Send me your snapshots to megcaton@yahoo.com. (Please include your name and a little description of the photo).
Like my Facebook Page.
Then get your friends to "like" your picture.

The picture with the most likes will win a free session at the place of your choice in the month of June. You will also receive a free Spiral Bound Photo Book with photos from your session and a 10x13; a $100 value.

The deadline for submission of your photo is Saturday, February 19, 2011. I will then go through the pictures and post them to my blog and to Facebook with the description that you have sent to me. :)

Voting will begin on Saturday, February 26, 2011 and ends on Saturday, March 5, 2011. So make sure you share with your friends.
